Closure of Places of Worship

Closure of Places of Worship

On Wednesday 6th January, following the new Government guidelines St. Mary’s close for Public worship until further notice. This is a disappointment for us all and the Bishops of Scotland, are committed to working with the Scottish Government to agree on safe path forward back to Communal Worship.

In the meantime there are many opportunities to join Masses online but also let us remember the importance of praying in our homes, reading the Bible, especially in family groups. At this time let our ‘Domestic Churches’ be active and faithful.

Specifically from St. Mary’s there will be a reflection on the Sunday Gospel each week at 10.30am on Facebook Live, on St. Mary’s, Nairn, Facebook Page and also the First Communion Classes will continue on Zoom. We have five candidates continuing their preparation and please keep the class in your prayers. It is not now possible however to visit the elderly and the sick as usual, but only in danger of death. Please though if you wish to contact Fr. Damian for any reason, please call or message him.

Financially we are stable, following a successful Christmas Appeal and we thank everyone for their generosity. You can still post your Weekly Envelopes through the door of the Parish House and we are grateful that many of you are contributing directly into the Parish Account. If anyone wants details about this, please call Father Damian.

Above us let us remain a Community of Faith, Hope, and Love and act in the promotion of the Common Good. That means to follow the Government regulations, to indeed to – Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, and Save Lives.

God Bless you all.

Fr. Damian G. Martell (Parish Priest)
