Reading – Gospel of John 20: 1-9.

It was early on the first day of the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala came to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple Jesus Loved. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb,” she said “and we don’t know where they have put him.”

So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together, but the other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, and also also the cloth that had been placed over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place of itself. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and believed. Till that moment they had failed to understand the teaching of scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

The Gospel of the Lord.

As we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ, let us remember the true meanings of this great Feast Day. The response to each prayer is ‘Lord hear our Prayer’.

      1. Easter is Hope – Our hope is in the Risen Christ. May we recognise that He is with us in all our daily tasks. We pray to the Lord.
      1. Easter is Commitment – We pray that the Lord give each of us the grace to strengthen our commitment to Him and to the faith we profess. We pray to the Lord.
      1. Easter is the Gift of Life – In rising from the dead, Jesus has given us life. May the lives of all people be protected, respected, and nurtured. May all have the fullness of life. We pray to the Lord.
      1. We pray for those who are suffering from the Corona Virus, may they be healed, and for those who have lost their lives, may they rest in peace. We pray to the Lord.
      1. We pray for all the health workers and carers who are giving of themselves for the Common Good during this crisis. May the Lord bless them in a special way. We pray to the Lord.
