Welcome to our visitors! Next to the church is our hall (entrance at the back of the building). There is a toilet available, and we also have live transmission of Mass, via our TV screen. Second Collection: SPUC White Flower Appeal \u2013 today\u2019s 2nd Collection is for the work of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children. SPUC exists to transform culture so that abortion is not only abolished but becomes unthinkable. The Society is actively leading the fight in courts, classrooms, and culture to achieve this mission. Through these efforts, it aims to restore a respect for the sanctity of all human life, from the very moment of conception until natural death. Thank you for your support of this important charity.<\/p>\n

Today: Remembrance Sunday \u2013 today we pray for the repose of the souls of all the members of HM Armed Forces and ancillary services who gave their lives in the pursuit of freedom. We thank them for their sacrifice: \u201cat the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them\u201d. There will be a minute\u2019s silence before the start of our Mass today, and there will be a second collection for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.<\/p>\n

\u2018Thank you\u2019 to all of you who assisted in cleaning the church and rearranging the items, after the masonry repairs on the cracked wall in the Sanctuary were completed. It requires some six weeks to dry properly before painting. On to the Flower Room and Sacristy next!<\/p>\n

Children\u2019s Liturgy returns to Sunday Mass after the \u2018Tattie Holiday\u2019; please do support this, and encourage your children to attend!<\/p>\n

\u2018What We Believe: The Beauty of the Catholic Faith\u2019 \u2013 the fifth part of this course, \u201cThe Holy Spirit, the Breath of God\u201d, will take place in our parish hall on Monday 10 November at 7.00pm. All welcome!<\/p>\n

Highland Foodbank: Reverse Advent Calendar \u2013 this list contains items of food, toiletries, and cleaning products for each day in November. Although titled as \u2018Advent\u2019, this initiative is run in November so that any Christmas specific items can be included in food parcels leading up to Christmas, giving a little bit of a treat alongside the main items that are donated. Any and all donations are most gratefully received, as always. Copies of the Reverse Advent Calendar are available in the entrance foyer.<\/p>\n

15-16 September: Relics of St. Carlo Acutis in our Diocese! \u2013 The relics of our newest saint will be visiting St. Mary\u2019s Catholic Cathedral in Aberdeen. They will be welcomed into the Cathedral at 6.00pm on Monday, and will thereafter be available for adoration.<\/p>\n

This Tuesday, 16 September \u2013 Feast of Saint Ninian: to mark the Feast of this Scottish saint, there will be a talk on the life and legacy of Saint Ninian, and his connection to Nairn. The talk, which begins at 7.00pm, will be given by Eric Hanna. who writes and publishes on Scotland’s Saints in the magazine \u2018St Moluag\u2019s Coracle\u2019. The half-hour talk in the hall will be followed by the litany of Saint Ninian, in the church, and will end with Vespers by 8.45pm. All welcome.<\/p>\n

Monday 22 September at 7.00pm: Parish Christmas Fair Meeting \u2013 this is for all people involved in the organisation and running of the Parish Christmas Fair.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s Second Collection is for the sick and retired priests. We have 20 incardinated priests (those who are ordained for this diocese), who \u2013 together with 10 overseas colleagues \u2013 who have to minister in a geographical area that is approximately the same size as Belgium. Our second collection is to support those who require medical attention and treatment, and to assist our aged priests who are now retired. Can you help them? Thank you for your support.<\/p>\n

MEETING TODAY \u2013 Sacrament of Confirmation 2026: A meeting will be held for parents and children regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation in April 2026. This is open to candidates of S1 and up. Some parents may feel their P7 children may also be ready to receive the Sacrament, and are also invited to attend the meeting, which will take place after the 11.30 am Mass on Sunday 7 September in the upstairs hall.<\/p>\n

Saturday 13 September, at 12 noon: Highland Deanery Pilgrimage \u2013 our venue for this year\u2019s Deanery Pilgrimage, is St. Mary\u2019s Beauly, one of the officially designated pilgrimage sites during this Jubilee Year of Hope. The Mass begins at 12 noon, and the Principal Celebrant is Bishop Hugh Gilbert OSB. Everyone welcome!<\/p>\n

Sacrament of Confirmation 2026: A meeting will be held for parents and children regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation in April 2026. This is open to candidates of S1 and up. The season is dedicated to prayer, reflection, and action for the environment across the Christian communities. A special Mass for the Season of Creation in our Highland Deanery will be celebrated at St. Columba\u2019s Culloden.<\/p>\n

First Aid Course \u2013 thank you for the initial interest in this initiative. We are looking to organise a day at the end of October, when everyone is back from holidays, pilgrimages, etc. Look out for further details. First Aid Course \u2013 we are looking for volunteer First Aiders at St. Mary\u2019s. A one-day course, paid for by the parish, is being organised. Ideally, we are looking for 5 people who regularly attend the Vigil Mass, and 5 people from the Sunday morning worshippers. We have 4 out of 5 names for Sunday already, but need 5 folk for Saturday evening. Please speak to Fr. Domenico if interested.<\/p>\n

Parish Benches \u2013 many thanks to Julie and Steve Knight, and to Steve\u2019s brother Douglas, for their sterling efforts in transforming two pews into benches. It involved a lot of hard work. One bench is located outside our hall, and the other is in the garden, in front of the house. Sincere thanks also to Rev. Steven Manders and the congregation of Nairn URC for their kind donation of the pews.<\/p>\n

This event will take place on Saturday 30 August from 10.30am to 3.45pm at Craig Lodge House of Prayer, Dalmally, Argyll. \u201cThe Margaret Sinclair Story\u201d: Thursday 24 July at 7.30pm, in St. Columba\u2019s Culloden \u2013 marking 100 years since the death of Venerable Margaret Sinclair, AGAP \u2013 a Catholic professional theatre company based in the Archdiocese of Glasgow \u2013 is offering a preview performance, before taking it to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The play depicts the true story of the Edinburgh factory girl who could be Scotland\u2019s next canonised saint; an ordinary life lived with cheerful holiness amidst the challenges of her time, proving that saintliness is something to which we can all aspire. This is a one-woman play, performed by an actual relative of Venerable Margaret Sinclair. St. Mary\u2019s Christmas Lunch \u2013 Marie Cruickshank is organising a Christmas lunch at the \u2018Classroom\u2019 restaurant on 12 December, at 1.00pm. Any parishioners who would like to get together for a festive meal are invited to express their interest by speaking to Marie, or by writing their names on the poster, attached to the church noticeboard. 10-12 June: Pluscarden Pentecost Lectures 2025 \u2013 this year the lectures will be delivered by Professor Tracey Rowland, an eminent theologian and academic who has published ten books and over 150 articles, many of which have focused on the theology of Joseph Ratzinger. Professor Rowland will be talking about \u201cTrinitarian Anthropology: What Does it Mean for all of Creation to be Marked by the Form of the Trinity?\u201d The four talks are FREE, and take place in St. Scholastica\u2019s Retreat House, at the bottom of the main drive of Pluscarden Abbey, at the following times: Tuesday 10 June at 3.00pm; Wednesday 11 June at 10.30am, and at 3.00pm; Thursday 12 June at 10.30am.<\/p>\n

This is the tenth anniversary of the encyclical, and a timely reminder of how Pope Francis used his position to bring people together and work for a better world.
