{"id":7019,"date":"2022-07-02T16:18:03","date_gmt":"2022-07-02T15:18:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nairn.rcda.scot\/?p=7019"},"modified":"2022-07-02T16:18:03","modified_gmt":"2022-07-02T15:18:03","slug":"pilgrimage-mass-at-scalan-seminary-sunday-3rd-july-at-4-00pm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nairn.rcda.scot\/?p=7019","title":{"rendered":"Pilgrimage mass at Scalan Seminary \u2013 Sunday 3rd July at 4.00pm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SUNDAY 3 JULY at 4.00pm: ANNUAL MASS AT SCALAN SEMINARY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This annual event at Scalan, near Tomintoul in the Braes of Glenlivet, takes place Sunday 3rd July.<\/p>\n<p>It is always a great gathering of pilgrims &#8211; all are welcome.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_15\">Scalan can be reached by leaving Tomintoul on the A939 (B9008 Dufftown).&nbsp; Just beyond Auchnarrow, about five miles later, Scalan is signposted (three and a half miles distant), on an unclassified but good single-track road, with passing places.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_15\">For those using satellite systems, AB37 9JS is a useful postcode.&nbsp; It should get you to Chapeltown of Glenlivet.&nbsp; After passing the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, the whisky distillery and the water-bottling plant, all on your right, the road becomes a country track for the last mile to Scalan.&nbsp; Cars and minibuses can continue on to park quite close to Scalan, but coaches need to stop here.&nbsp; However, on the day of the annual Mass, car drivers can be confidently waved down by those who need a lift along the track.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"color_15\">Sensible shoes are required, and one should be prepared for any weather.&nbsp; Scalan has its own climate system!&nbsp; Please observe the Country Code, shutting field gates and respecting what is a place of work for some, and home for all who live there.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SUNDAY 3 JULY at 4.00pm: ANNUAL MASS AT SCALAN SEMINARY This annual event at Scalan, near Tomintoul in the Braes of Glenlivet, takes place Sunday 3rd July.
