On Wednesday 12th August 2015 Fr. Domenico Zanre was installed as Parish Priest of St. Columba’s Culloden. The Principal Celebrant was the Right Reverend Hugh Gilbert OSB, Bishop of Aberdeen, with Vicar General Fr. Stuart Chalmers, Rev. James Bell, Rev. John Allen, Rev. Richard Reese, Fr. Andrzej Harden SJ concelebrating.
Fr. Domenico chose the Votive Mass of Jesus Christ the High Priest for the Celebration, with familiar and favourite hymns, opening with Alleluia Sing to Jesus for the Entrance Hymn, O God, We Give Ourselves Today during the Offertory, O Bread of Heaven and Soul of My Saviour during Communion, and Holy God we Praise Thy Name for the Recessional Hymn.
Following an interesting and thought provoking Homily by Bishop Hugh, Fr. Domenico made his Profession of Faith, followed by the Oath of Fidelity, the Address by Bishop Hugh to Fr. Domenico, and the Address by Bishop Hugh to the Congregation.
The Sun shone brightly during the mass, lighting the Altar and lectern, and remained throughout the evening, enabling the sides of the building to be fully opened up, and the congregation to enjoy the refreshments outdoors.
A wonderful celebration, and for many, a once in a lifetime chance to take part in not only the installation of a Parish Priest, but the first Parish Priest of a new church.
May the Lord walk with him always, nourish his spiritual life, and continue to bless and guide him in his work and ministry. May he always be filled with joy and enthusiasm, and enjoy the support, friendship and respect of his fellow clergy and parishioners.
