Children’s Liturgy and Sacramental Preparation Classes will be on break until after the Summer Holidays. The Confirmation Class members should pick up a Project Sheet.

Ordination to Priesthood – For Deacon Dominic Nwaigwe will be held on Tuesday 20th August at 6pm.  The venue is St. Mary’s, Inverness.

Sea Sunday – There will be a Special Collection at next weekends Masses for the good work of the Apostleship of the Sea.  Please give generously.

Diocesan Pilgrimage to Pluscarden – This Sunday.  Mass will be at 3pm with Bishop Hugh the Chief Celebrant.  This year there will be special emphasise on the wonderful Catechetical work going on in the Diocese.  Catechists for all ages are encouraged to attend.  The Nairn Community Transport will leave at 1.15pm sharp from behind the Community Centre.

Thank You. To all who assisted in anyway towards our successful Concert at Pluscarden Abbey.  A total of £1180 was raised towards funds for the renovation of the Parish Hall.  There is now £2000 (Restricted Funds) available for this project.

World Communications Day is being celebrated by the whole Church today.  Please pick up a letter (one for each household) at the end of Mass.

Scalan Pilgrimage – Sunday 16th June.  Mass will be celebrated at 4pm.

Bulletin 26th May 2019 (PDF)

NB: This Thursday is the Solemnity of the Ascension.  It is a Holyday of Obligation.  Masses at 10am and 7pm.

Light a Candle Prayer Cards – £150 has been recently sent to support the work of Sr. Annie in Aleppo, Syria, which makes this a total of £510 being donated to her over the past two years.  Many thanks and please keep on supporting this parish initiative.

Parish Quiz – The very enjoyable evening at the Seaforth Club raised £195 for Parish Funds.  Many thanks to those who organised and attended the evening. 

Special Collection – £512.35 (inc. Gift Aid) was collected last week for the missionary work of the Comboni Sisters.  Many thanks from Sr. Patricia.

Fundraising Concert at Pluscarden Abbey – Saturday 25th May at 3.30pm.  The Moray String Quartet are kindly performing that day to help us in the raising of Church Funds.  A number of volunteers are required to assist on the day before and on the day.  The tasks include setting up and tidying away chairs, collections, serving refreshments, making biscuits and tray bakes.  Please see Patricia Robertson as soon as possible if you can assist with any of these tasks.  If you wish to book a place on the Nairn Community Transport please put your name down at the back of the Church after Mass (Last few places).

Pluscarden Pentecost Lectures – 11th to 13th June at the Abbey. Please consult the poster for details.

Power of Grace Faith Rally – Saturday 15th June from 11am to 6pm at Greyfriars Convent in Elgin.  It is hoped that all members of the Confirmation Class will attend but older youths are welcome.  Please consult the poster to register.

Rosary: During the Month of May we will pray the Rosary Tuesday – Friday, half an hour before Mass, for the intention of Vocations to the Diocese and to Religious Life.

Honouring of Our Lady as ‘Queen of the May’.  Please gather outside the Church next Sunday for this ceremony before Mass.

Programme for Holy Week/ Easter Tridium:

Monday – Service of Readings and Prayers at 7pm.

Tuesday – Rosary at 6.30pm.  Mass at 7pm.

Wednesday – Holy Hour at 9am.  Mass at 10am.

Holy Thursday – Mass of The Lord’s Supper at 7pm.

Good Friday – Stations of The Cross at 12 O’Clock.  Celebration of The Passion of the Lord at 3pm.  Open Church for Prayer 7pm-9pm.

Holy Saturday – Easter Vigil in the Holy Night at 8pm.

Easter Sunday – Morning Mass at 10.30am.

Sacrament of ReconciliationTuesday 4.30pm-6.30pm and Saturday 10am-12 O’Clock.

 

SCIAF Lunch – Thanks to all those who organised, contributed to, and attended.  A total of £230 was raised.

The Funeral Mass For the late Monsignor Robert McDonald will be held on Monday at Midday, at Pluscarden Abbey.

Mary MacKillop Reflection Day – Saturday 6th April from 9.45am in the Church (inc. 11am Mass), concluding at 3pm.  A Brunch will be provided in the Hall.

Special Collection – £240.30 was raised for St. Patrick’s Missionary Society.  Many Thanks.

Mary’s Meals and Traidcraft Lunch – Thanks to all who organised, assisted and attended.  £505 was raised for these good causes.

Emmanuel Community – ‘Jesus Our Hope’: This Lenten Reflection is on Saturday 9th March at 10.30am to
1.30pm at St Mary’s, Beauly.

Details of Readers/Eucharistic Ministers – A request has been made to circulate telephone numbers so that
changes, as necessary, can be made to the Rotas.  If you agree to this please text Fr. Damian with your Name, so he can produce a list.

Light a Candle Cards – New cards are available next to the Votive Candles. You may wish to send one to a person whom you light one for.  Donations put in the tin, are for Aid to the Church in Need, for Syria.

Parish Gazebo – This has been kindly donated to the Parish and can be hired for £10.  The contact person is Patricia Robertson.  The money will go towards are ongoing project to upgrade the Parish Hall.

Mass Time Change – Mass on Wednesday will be at 9am. Therefore there will be no Holy Hour this week.

World Day of the Sick – Monday 11th February.  There will be Mass at 11am.  Please arrange to bring elderly or infirm friends and relatives, and those whom are visited by the Parish.  The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will form part of the Mass.

Parish Council – The next meeting is on Tuesday 19th February at 7.30pm.  If you have an issue you would like  to be discussed please contact the Chairperson, George Lavery, or any other member.  The last minutes are available to consult on the notice board.

Date for Diary  – The date for the Sacrament of Confirmation has been agreed with the Bishop. It will be on
Sunday 17th November.

Save the Children Fund –  We have received a thank you letter for the £200 raised for the Yemen at the Nativity Play.  It is on the Notice Board.

Mass for Diocesan Jubilarians – Will take place on Monday 11th March at 12 Noon.  The venue is St. Mary’s
Cathedral.

Diocesan Pilgrimage 2019 – To Padua and Ravenna, from 12th to 17th July.  Please consult the poster on the notice board. 

Holiday to Austria and Oberammergau  (The Passion Play) – From 20th to 27th July 2020. Please consult the brochure on the notice board.

Sacrament of Reconciliation – As from next Saturday, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be at 10am.  Mass
will therefore be at 11am.  The Rosary will be prayed at 6.30pm on Tuesday and 9.30am on Thursday.

Sacrament of Reconciliation – After some feedback and thought from the beginning of February the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be at 10am on Saturday mornings followed by 11am Mass.  The Rosary will be prayed on Tuesdays and Thursdays before Mass.

Children’s Liturgy and Catechism Classes – It is very important that Candidates for Confirmation attend the classes.  There is now a course for post-First Holy Communion youth who are not in the Confirmation class. All enquiries to Fr. Damian.

Parish Hall – This year the Parish Council hope to progress with plans to upgrade the Parish Hall.  A major concern are the toilet facilities.  We will look for Council and Private Grants.  Please contact Fr. Damian, John Dolan, or Patricia Robertson, if you have any suggestions in relation to the Hall.

Sacrament of Reconciliation It is rare to have any parishioners to avail of this very important Sacrament at 5pm on Saturdays.  Fr. Damian would welcome any suggestions for changes to this time.  Wednesday during Holy Hour is ruled out however, as it would interfere with the silence and purpose of this quiet time.
